This free application launcher provides easy access to your favorite applications. You can launch an application by typing its name in the interface, by putting a shortcut on Skeyz Launcher’s docking bar, or from the right click context menu (when you right click the system tray icon or the application’s interface). You can also access webpages, search for info on the net, access folders, and set up alerts.

The Skeyz Launcher installation file is inside a 691KB archive (that’s quite lightweight and won’t take long to complete). Run the setup executable or MSI file from the archive and a setup wizard will help you get Skeyz Launcher up and running in no time at all. Please note that the application needs .NET Framework in order to function.

The Skeyz Launcher interface looks like a simple search box. You can drag and drop it anywhere you want on the screen. Right click on the part where it says “skeyz” and you can access the Options menu and get the application to show its Dock. On the Dock you can put shortcuts to applications and files. You can also access the Options menu and get the application to show its Dock by right clicking the icon in the system tray.

Say you want to launch the Firefox browser with Skeyz Launcher. There are several ways to do so. Type “firefox” into the search box and you will be presented with several results that match your query; the top one is the link to firefox.exe. If you put a Firefox shortcut on the Dock, you can click it to launch the browser. By right clicking on the system tray icon or Skeyz Launcher’s interface, then selecting Firefox from the context menu, you can also launch the browser.

The application does a few other things you will like. Say Firefox is your default browser and you want quick access to FindMySoft’s webpage. Just type in “findmysoft.com” in Skeyz Launcher’s search box for your default browser to launch and take you to the webpage you specified. Or perhaps you want to access the webpage later and you want to make sure you don’t forget. Type in something like “alert visit FMS @14:30” and at 14:30 you will be presented with a prompt that says “visit FMS”.

Skeyz Launcher can also perform certain commands, like taking a screenshot or shutting down your PC. It can even do simple math. Type in “2+2=” for example, and it will tell you it’s 4 (that’s just a basic example, you can use it for something more complicated than that).

All the functionality Skeyz Launcher has to offer will not cost you a thing. The application is freeware.

There’s much to like about Skeyz Launcher: it’s free, it provides easy access to applications and files, it can perform web searches, it can perform various commands, and it’s quite easy to use.

Pros

The system requirements are so low that Skeyz Launcher won’t have any problems even on basic machines. The interface is minimalistic and easy to use. There’s a handy Dock onto which you can put shortcuts to applications and files. Type something into the search box and it will search for it on the web, type in commands and it will execute them. Support for hotkeys is provided. Skeyz Launcher is freeware.

Cons

None that I could think of. Tip: To remove a shortcut from the dock, you must place your mouse cursor on it and click the middle mouse button. You may have problems figuring this out, like I did when using Skeyz Launcher. The solution was included in the Help file, in the FAQ section of the Appendix.
